Agnes Sinclair was another Flodden orphan. Her father Lord Sinclair had been a patron of the arts, and it was through her mother that she was related to the Hepburn family.
It is likely that she brought money to her marriage to the Fair Earl, and on their divorce, he made her the gift of the lands of Moreham.
Although she saw little of James Hepburn when he was a boy, he often visited or sheltered at her house when he was grown and in some scrape or other.
James had a natural son named William (probably a result of his liaison with Anna Throndsen), and when Lady Moreham died, she left him all her belongings, suggesting that she had played a large part in bringing him up. She died in 1573, the year Bothwell was moved to Dragsholm Castle. It is unlikely that he heard of her death.
